Link building in the Netherlands: Dutch backlinks that actually count

Your Dutch pages are live, the content is good, and the rankings still stall at page two. Often the missing piece is authority in the Dutch market: links from Dutch websites that tell Google you are a serious player here, not a foreign shop with a translated page. Stijgt builds those links, carefully and with a plan.

Why Dutch backlinks matter for a foreign shop

Links are still one of the ways Google decides which site deserves to rank. For an international shop there is an extra layer. Your domain may have plenty of authority from German or British sites, but very few links from the Netherlands. In our experience Google reads that as: known abroad, unknown here.

Dutch backlinks change that signal. A mention on a Dutch blog, a guest article on a Dutch trade site or a link from a Dutch supplier directory tells Google and Dutch readers that you belong in the Dutch results. It also brings referral visitors who were already reading about your product in Dutch.

How we build a Dutch link profile

We never start with buying links. We start with your competitors. Which Dutch sites link to the shops that outrank you, how many links do they have, and what kind. That gives a realistic picture of the gap and of the budget needed to close it.

From that analysis we draw up a link profile: which types of sites, which pages on your site should receive links, which anchor texts, and in what pace. Then we acquire the links through four routes.

  • Link platforms where Dutch publishers offer placements, selected on real traffic and relevance.
  • Our own network of Dutch websites and publishers.
  • Digital PR: Dutch media and blogs that write about your product because there is a story in it.
  • Guest posts on Dutch sites in your niche, written in natural Dutch and useful to their readers.

What we refuse to do

A bad link does not help a little. It can hurt. So we are strict about where your links come from. Every candidate site is checked on traffic, spam score and Domain Rating before we approach it, and we skip anything that looks like it exists only to sell links.

  • No links from websites without traffic, however cheap they are.
  • No sites with a high spam score or a very low Domain Rating.
  • No automated link schemes, no private blog networks, no comment spam.
  • No anchor text stuffing. The profile has to look natural because it is natural.

What it costs and how we decide

There is no fixed price for a Dutch link. A link from a strong Dutch trade publication costs more than a mention on a small blog, and some niches are far more competitive than others. We base the budget on your goals and on what your competitors have built, and we show you that calculation before you commit.

Every month you get a report that shows which links were placed, where, and what happened to your rankings and organic traffic in Search Console and GA4. If a route is not delivering, we shift the budget. You can cancel monthly.

Link building works best with Dutch SEO

Links to pages that do not deserve to rank are wasted money. Before we build links we check that the Dutch pages are technically sound, have the right keywords and are written in proper Dutch. If they are not, we fix that first, or combine link building with our Dutch SEO service. Our own AI agents keep an eye on crawl health and ranking changes, so we spot early when a link starts to work.

FAQ

How many Dutch backlinks do we need?

That depends on your competitors. In some niches a handful of good Dutch links moves you to page one, in others you are up against shops with hundreds. The competitor analysis at the start gives a realistic number and a timeline.

Do the links point to our Dutch pages or to the homepage?

Mostly to the Dutch pages that should rank: category pages and buying guides. Some links to the homepage are natural and useful. The link profile we draw up sets the balance.

Can we see which links are placed?

Yes. The monthly report lists every placed link with its source. If you prefer to see links in advance, we agree on that together.

Is buying links allowed?

Google does not like links that are bought only to influence rankings, and it can ignore or penalise them. That is why we stick to relevant sites with real readers, natural anchors and a sensible pace, and say no to anything that looks like a link farm.

How long before Dutch links show results?

Links take time to be found and valued. Expect the first movement after four to six weeks, with the real effect building over a few months. We measure it against the baseline we set at the start.
